Interesting Overview for Professionals

Curriculum in Early Childhood Education: Re-Examined, Rediscovered, Renewed reviews and critiques early childhood curriculum in new and interesting ways. Each chapter is written by a different author. While the editors write an introduction and conclusion, 85% of the book is written by experts in the field of early childhood education including a number of "big names" (Professors at important universities). The book is targeted at people studying to be early childhood teachers or directors, academics and those interested in Early childhood policy. I read this book for my graduate class in early childhood and learned a lot about the different types of commonly used curriculum. This book was very positively reviewed in The Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education (JECTE).

Will use this book for curriculum understanding with my pre-service students going into teaching. After reading the entire book, might add to reading list for pre-service students.

Worst Writer Ever!!!!
By Love to learn
Nancy File is by far the worst writer that I have ever had the displeasure of reading. She begins each section with an introduction which I can only guess she includes to try to make up for the utter lack of organization and information in her paragraphs, however, it can't remotely make up for such shortcomings. In addition, she apparently decided that she was going to try to sound intelligent by using the most obscure words that she could find. In addition, she seems to assume that all of her readers have a doctorate in Early Childhood Curriculum, so she omits any and all possible background information needed. Instead of sounding intelligent, she has frustrated readers who don't get half the message that she intended on sharing and wouldn't waste time looking for the meaning in the ramblings nor the background information needed to understand the text if they didn't have to read the book for a class. For the most part, the other writers in the book do a better job. I just don't understand why none of them felt the need to help out their fellow writer for the good of their book.
